Tyronn Lue and all other decision-makers during the LeBron James 2.0 Cleveland Cavaliers stint have had to overcome shallow-dive perceptions that the superstar is pulling the strings.
Lue responded to a question about if he’d ever plan an event like what Steve Kerr did Monday night, when he let the players call the game against the Suns.
“They already say LeBron’s coaching the team anyway, so if I give him the clipboard they’re really gonna say that,” the third-year Cavs coach said.

Of course, Kerr’s team being historically talented and well-situated made that option a fun, low-stakes endeavor. Lue’s Cavs being in third place in the East and now having to integrate four new role players won’t make such a course of action realistic.
